If your 2005 Chevy Avalanche 4x4 LT is a 2500 model, your towing capacity is 10,100 lbs. If it is a 1500 model, your towing capacity is 8,000 lbs. Either way, you will be able to safely tow that camper, but I do suggest weight distribution and proper towing components in order to do so.

If you do not have the factory trailer hitch, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15324. This is an extremely strong and well made hitch that will allow you the full towing capacity of your vehicle.

If you do not have the factory 7-way wiring, then I recommend the Vehicle Wiring Harness Kit with 4 Pole Trailer Connector # C59496 and the # ETBC7. Then I recommend the brake controller # 90195 for a proportional controller. If you have the factory 7-way then you can simply use the wiring harness # 3015-P.

For your trailer, I recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66560. This is rated to work well with the tongue weight of your trailer and will provide support and sway control to make your towing experience more enjoyable and with far less sag on your vehicle. For a 2 inch hitch ball use # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch diameter ball use # 19286. I've attached an article to assist.

Let me know if you have further questions as I know this is a lot of information.
