Question:
Just bought a 2018 Chaparral 298RLS MID that has turn-tec. Will be towing with my 2013 Ford F350 6.7L Diesel with a 6 and 3/4 foot box. Everything I read is if youre getting a 5th and your truck box is under 8 foot you need a slider. My question is, do I? According to my dealer he thinks I wouldnt since the turn-tec on Chaparral ensures you can now go 90 degrees even. What are your thoughts?

For trailers that have a boxed front a sliding 5th wheel hitch would be required for any truck bed that is between 6' - 8' long. Since your 2018 Chaparral 298RLS MID has the Turn-Tec tapered front end you very well could use a stationary 5th wheel hitch and still have enough clearance for a 90 degree turn. We cannot necessarily guarantee that it will work because we haven't tested it out, but I did get on Coachmen's site and they make the same claim that your dealer made.
Because of this, you should be good to go but I would do some double checking in forums and other online places where customers have given their input. If you have the factory puck system on your 2013 Ford F-350 then I recommend using the B&W Companion # BWRVK3300 as this is one of the nicest 5th wheel hitches out there.
If you don't have the factory puck system then I recommend going with either the B&W Patriot # BWRVK3255 with above bed rails # BWRVK2401 or the B&W Companion # BWRVK3500-5W with the Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1111-5W. The hitch head on the B&W Patriot and Companion 5th wheel hitches are fairly identical so either one would be a great option for you.
