Question:
Ordered a 2019 f350 superduty. Short box 6.75’ with factory pucks. Don’t want the weight of a slider hitch. Considering BandW non-slider or Andersen Ultimate hitch. Have a 1421hd pinbox so would have to reverse the coupler on the AU. Which hitch would have more offset? distance from cab. Thanks.

In regards to the B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch part # BWRVK3300 (150 lbs), the pivot arms can be adjusted so that the kingpin is positioned 3" in front of the axle or 1" behind the axle. In regards to the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System part # AM3200 (50 lbs), the base can be positioned so that the kingpin sits 9" behind the axle. However, in order to use this 5th wheel hitch on your 2019 Ford F-350 you will also need the Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Adapter part # RP30156 (50 lbs).
I have attached a formula for you below that will help you determine if you will have the proper turning clearance:
(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from center of fifth wheel hitch jaw to truck cab
B = Length of Pin Box Arm
C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)
Please note that using a fixed 5th wheel hitch with a high offset on a short bed truck is going to lead to a lot of chucking and jaring problems as the kingpin will not be centered over the rear axle. You can do as you see fit but a sliding 5th wheel hitch like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3370 (250 lbs) will really be your best option. The head is also removable so you don't have to lift the entire hitch up at once. The head weighs around 70 lbs and the base around 180 lbs.
