Question:

I have a 2015 ram 1500 and I have purchased the the wire harness for it. How ever when I plug it in the controller shows a green constant light. I dont have the brakes pressed and there is no trailer connected. What could be the cause?

Expert Reply:

A single green light with the Curt brake controller part # C74VV means that no trailer is connector and the manual override or brake pedal is pressed. If you are seeing that all the time you most likely have a short between the power wire of the controller (black) and the stoplight wire (red) which makes the controller think the pedal is applied.

Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to probe the red wire of the controller. If it's seeing voltage all the time then my theory is correct. Let me know what you find and we can go from there. You can also check to make sure the override lever isn't partially slide too.

i bought a Curt brake controller 51110 with harness 51382 for a 2008 Nissan Titan ass soon as i plugged it the green light is on also my truck light can you assist me with this issue thanks

The green dot on the Curt Venturer Brake Controller just means that the unit is on and ready for trailer hookup, which would be normal after plugging it in. Can you tell me what specific truck light you're referring to.

@LuisV That kind of behavior makes me think that the pin configuration doesn't match up between the Adapter Wire # C51382 and your 2008 Nissan Titan. If your Titan is the XE model then this would actually make sense as we have a note on the product page for the adapter saying that the pins don't match so you have to hardwire the adapter instead of using the plug. You'll need to use a circuit tester to match up the wires from the adapter to the functions on your Titan XE: Blue - 7-Way Output to Trailer Black - 12V Power White - Ground Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)
