Recommended Tire Spacing for a Triple Axle Trailer
Updated 01/31/2018 | Published 01/30/2018 >
Question:
I have upgraded the tire and wheel from a 225/75/15 to a 235/85/16 to get a higher load range tire and more ground clearance. With the tires installed and trailer unloaded I have 2.5 inches between center tire and front/ rear tire. Is this enough room. Does the same go as the tandem axle of 1” when loaded. I k ow the center axle does shift a little when suspension moves

It is always good practice to have at least 2 inches of space between your tires whether it is a tandem or triple axle trailer. The 2-1/2 inches that you have between your tires should be enough for you to travel safely.
There isn't really a hard and fast rule about spacing between the tires so that is why some answers that you find can vary. I would rather have a little more room than a little less room just to be safe which is why 2 inches is what I recommend using as your guidelines.
