Yes, for your 2017 Mazda CX-5, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118746. This custom-fit harness is confirmed to fit your vehicle and will install by connecting directly to built-in ports located behind the trim panels in the cargo area on the driver and passenger side. Once you plug in the T-connector, you will just need to run the hot lead up to the car battery. This will give you a 4-Way connector at the rear of your CX-5 to connect with and power a trailer's basic signal lights.
I have attached the written installation instructions for this harness that you can also look through.
If you plan on towing a trailer that is equipped with brakes (and has a 7-Way connector), you will also need to use the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything needed to install a fully functional 7-Way from the existing 4-Way, along with the additional wiring needed to install a brake controller. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you might find helpful.
For the brake controller itself, I really like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a fantastic proportional controller that will activate the trailer's brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Mazda CX-5. It features an easy to read digital display and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues. This unit is well known for its reliability and ease of use.
