Recommendation For Spare Wheel For Harbor Freight Tools Trailer

Question:

Last year, I purchased a Chinese trailer from Harbor Freight Tools, which came with 13 inch 4-lug wheels and 4.80/4.00-12 tires. I would like to purchase a spare wheel in case of emergencies. It appears that no one sells the 4.80/4.00-12 any longer apparently, there was a recall. The inflated tire diameter is 19.5 inches. What wheel and tire do you recommend?

Your 4.80/4.00-12 size tires are the same as our 4.80-12 tires.

I recommend the Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range C Item # AM30620. This 12 inch tire and wheel combo fits a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. It is the same size as your 4.80/4.00-12. It has an outer diameter of 20.5 inches when fully inflated 65mph.

To confirm if this tire will work as a spare, you will need to check to see if you have 3 to 4 inches of clearance regarding trailer fender and parts and that it provides enough weight capacity. If all of these work out then you should be good to go.
