Recommended Blue Ox Weight Distribution System for Trailer with Dry Tongue Weight of 505 lbs
Published 01/04/2018 >
Question:
I am needing to purchase a WD system for my new camper and truck. The listed tongue weight 505, UVW 5,595, and GVWR 7,495 On OEM website. My truck is a 2018 F150 If that matters. In doing research online, I am torn between Blue OX and Andersen Hitches. However, I noticed that many other RV Dealer websites and your website doesnt offer the Andersen Hitches WD system. Is it a bad system? What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

The Andersen system isn't bad, it just hasn't had the same amount of testing in the market for that newer design. The Blue Ox system has been around for a while and has shown that it is a durable and reliable system.
Based on your trailer tongue weight of 505 lbs which is the dry tongue weight, I recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 8,000 lbs GTW, 750 lbs TW # BXW0750. When looking for a weight distribution system, you want to account for the total tongue weight which is the trailer tongue weight when completely loaded as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your truck. This combination is the total tongue weight and ideally you want that to be in the middle of the rating for your weight distribution system. With this Blue Ox system, the range is 550 to 750 lbs, so you will be in the middle to middle high end of that when ready to go camping but well within the range.
I've attached some videos of this system to help.
