Question:

Is there such a thing as a reversible winch? One that will allow you to winch up and then winch down a small boat. Looking at a sled/boat slide whereby I would need to winch the boat up and then winch or control the decent back into the water. 15’ Jon boat.

What you are looking for is a reversible ratchet pawl, and they are not uncommon.
