Recommended Regulator for 100 lb Propane Tank and Vent-less Heater Appliance for Emergencies

I have a 100lb propane tank with the refill valve. Im wanting to fit this tank to use with a 30,000BTU ventless heater for emergency heat use. Which regulator is needed?

For your propane tank with fill valve, you most likely need the Camco Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator w/ P.O.L - 160,000 Btu/Hr # CAM59333. This will have the 1/4 inch NPt inlet and the 3/8 NPT outlet and will maintain a constant 11 inch water column propane pressure for your vent-less heater.

I have a 100 lb. propane tank. Can I run my gas stove and whole house generator off this and if I can what kind of regulator would I need.

Assuming both the generator and stove run off of propane, the 100 pound tank will work to power both of them. For a regulator a 2-stage unit like the Camco # CAM59333 will work perfectly.

I have a I have a wall heater with 5 bricks that glow it is a Hearth Right it is hooked up with 3/8 copper tubing and a regulator to a 100 lb cylinder for backup. Works fine in mild weather but when it gets cold and runs a lot it turns pilot off and have to restart it. Is line to small for it?

It could be a small line but it could also be a bad regulator - has that been replaced recently? I'm not too familiar with that model/brand heater, but if the regulator is built in I would check with the manufacturer.

@ChrisR It has a regulator on the 100 lb tank. But it also may have one in heater I will check with heater co. Thank you.

@ClydeM is you wall heater vent free? If it is then it may be turning off because of the co2 safety sensor. Running it constantly can cause a build up of co2 if it has no discharge flue.

The above-mentioned Camco 2-Stage Regulator # CAM59333 should work great. I would just check to be sure there aren't any specific Btu requirements listed in the pool heater documents/manual.

@Erika I have a 100,000 btu pool heater I have recently purchased as well! I have a propane tank and no one mentioned a regulator! Aye geez. Did you find one that worked for your use?

I have a new 18000 btu range that I am going to feed it with propane through 3/4” home flex gas line at 30’ from two 100 lb propane tanks with a duel valve automatic regulator. Will this configuration deliver the propane supply that the range requires?

An automatic changeover regulator like the Camco # CAM59005 shouldn't have any issues with this kind of setup.
