Question:
Im considering swapping out my current trailer lights for led trailer lights. My truck has oem wiring for incandescent bulbs. Do i need to add any kind of voltage regulator on either the truck or trailer side of the wiring connector? Thank you.

Converting trailer lighting to the LED-type is a great way to both increase visibility and reduce power demand on the vehicle wiring system. LEDs are roughly 10x more energy efficient than incandescent lights.
In some cases the trailer turn signal lights will need a load resistor to prevent what is called hyper-flashing (overly fast blinking of the turn signals) but this is something you really have to try to know. The other lighting circuits definitely will not need a load resistor but just the turn signals might. Kit # DI34ZR is all you would potentially need. One resistor goes on each turn light circuit.
We have both complete LED trailer lighting kits shown on the linked page, but we also have LED replacement elements that install in place of the incandescent bulbs. All of these are shown on the other linked page. If your current bulb number has a corresponding LED equivalent you can simply install these LEDs units without having to replace the entire light fixtures.
For instance, the bulb 1157 is fairly common and for this we do offer LED replacements such as # CM93236, which is white. Color options are offered too, such as blue # CM93233 and red # P231157R360.
