Question:
I have a 1949 Willys Jeep that only weighs 2,500 lbs. My tires are 215 85 R16. Im looking for chains to handle very deep snow and some offroading. How would you compare these 3 sets of chains? PWE2435S TC2219SHD TC2435

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Pewag All Square Mud Service Snow Tire Chains part # PWE2435S and the Titan Chain Heavy Duty Alloy Snow Tire Chains part # TC2219SHD both have steel square links whereas the Titan Chain Mud Service Snow Tire Chains part # TC2435 has a steel twist link. Generally speaking, square link chains are better for ice and twist link chains are better for snow.
Another notable difference between the three sets of chains is size. Both the Titan Chain Heavy Duty Alloy Snow Tire Chains and the Pewag All Square Mud Service Snow Tire Chains have 7mm thick links whereas the Titan Chain Mud Service Snow Tire Chains has 8mm thick links. The thicker link should provide you with a bit more traction.
All three sets of chains are made from a nickel manganese alloy steel which is both durable and rust resistant. I recommend using the Titan Chain Mud Service Snow Tire Chains as these are the most cost effective option of the three and will provide you with the most amount of traction in deep snow. In order to ensure the tire chains remain seated in their proper location, I highly recommend the Titan Chain Link and Spring Tire Chain Adjuster part # TCSA2.
