Features to know about

Breaking Through Ice and Packed Snow: V-Bar Studs Bite Hard

When the road turns to slick ice or packed snow, these V-bar links really shine. Each twist-link cross chain has welded V-bar studs that dig in, breaking through ice glaze and packed layers so your tires can grip instead of spin. The ladder pattern keeps steady forward traction, letting you climb, steer, and stop with confidence even in the heaviest snowdrifts or icy backroads.

Pushing Through Deep Snow and Mud: Heavy-Duty Ladder Pattern Keeps You Moving

For serious winter weather or muddy ruts, the ladder-style layout gives your tires consistent contact with the surface. The pattern clears slush and grabs at each rotation, helping you power through where bare tires would bog down. Whether cutting wood at a snowy cabin or crawling out of a slick trail, the steady bite makes it feel like driving on firm ground again.

Built to Handle Harsh Use: Nickel Manganese Alloy Steel Resists Corrosion

These chains are made from nickel manganese alloy steel, giving them the strength to handle tough conditions and resist rust after repeated use. The 5.5 mm (0.218") thick links hold up to both road salt and off-road mud. With no cams or levers to come loose, they stay secure even when reversing or bumping over uneven ground.

Simple and Solid Setup: Manual Tensioning That Stays Put

You don’t need fancy gadgets to keep these chains tight. The manual connection points are strong and straightforward, so once you hook them, they stay in place. No cams to pop loose means fewer worries when you’re backing down a hill or driving over rough patches. For an even firmer fit, you can add optional rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately).

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Video Transcript for Checking Out the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Titan Chain snow tire chains with the V bar links. These chains come in a number of sizes for a wide variety of applications. Our low carbon steel chains go across our tire horizontally. This provides excellent traction and also grip and braking. These are an SAE Class U chain, so you'll want to use them with vehicles that have no restriction around the wheel well area. They're meant for highway or off road use and it's recommended to use a rubber adjuster to help keep that tension. This one is part number TC0A3.

These Titan chains have a nice V bar pattern. What they've done is taken their standard twist links and they've added on a small angled piece of metal there, that really helps to grip that snow, give you superior traction in both snow and ice. We're here at the passenger side of the vehicle. We've got our chain all laid out. This is just to ensure that we don't have any kinks, any tangles, any twisted things that we're going to have to deal with. We're working tire size 27555R20 and again, these tire chains are made in a wide variety of sizes, so lots of different applications for them.

We'll want to just place the chain up and over our tire. It's important to keep the hook side facing outward. As you can see, we've got a nice smooth back here, and then more of a blunt surface here on the front. We don't want that to be rubbing up against the sidewall, so we'll keep that smooth edge facing in. We want to just work the chain kind of down in front of the tire here in the front. We're just going to roll it forward on it.

We want to make sure you got all the slack you can have right there. We now just want to roll our vehicle forward and we just kind of work our chain over the top of the tire here, kind of get it centered up. Any slack that you might have here in the front, you want to pull towards the back. That's where we're going to be connecting it. All right, come around here to the rear and hook our tag end up there on the larger hook. We'll pull our slack around to the front side here and get it connected as well.

It's important to note which link you use in the rear. We used our second there and we've got a plus or minus one variable, so we can use the third, the second or the first here. It looks like we may be able to get it into the second one there. You want to get it of course, as tight as you can but you also want to be able to function it and operate it, to make it safe. In my case, we just can't get it to go to that second one, so we'll use our first one, connect that in. You bring that catch right down over top of it there, that's going to hold it in place and keep it from backing out. Then we'll bring in our rubber tensioner. You just connect it in to five points around the outside of the tire here. You want to get it as equal as you can, spacing wise, but you certainly don't have to count links or do anything like that. The hooks on this should be facing outward as well, just like on the tire chain itself. You don't want that to be rubbing into your tire, causing any trouble. Just drive a few car lengths forward, make sure we don't have any slack that we need to work out of there, and re-tighten. That will complete today's look at the Titan Chain heavy duty alloy snow tire chains with square links, designed for tires sizes from 15 inches all the way up to 22 inches and offers a thirty mile an hour maximum speed rating. That will complete today's look at the Titan Chain snow tire chains, with the V bar link. .

These chains are the quality I had years ago in the oilfield. They are heavy and well made. I would purchase these chains again.

Incredibly fast delivery. Tire Chains look great. It's August 1st and 90 degrees. I received the chains today and put them on to confirm fit. Everything looks great. Just need snow!

by:

We just finished two years of full-time travel around the US. I bought two sets of chains and they fit snuggly, as expected, on my LT 275/65 R18 tires. I also bought two types of chain binders to keep them tight and positioned correctly in different conditions. So, that's 4 chain & spring binders AND 4 rubber binders ... just in case. I mounted them all to test the fit and practice my skills and drove 4 mi. on a dirt road. All went well. As we zig zag around the US it's a smart move to carry these chains and binders with us. Many states in the west have highways and roads that mandate use of chains. I'm glad I didn't need to use them last year but I'm confident we're ready if need be. Thanks to etrailer for great documentation and Fabulous customer service!

Received the snow chains exactly what I wanted. Thank you James for sending me the right ones.

by:

Excellent chains. Used them extensively this last November getting up and down a snowed over road and snow/iced over rocky trail up the mountain in CO. They didn’t break on the rocks and got great traction on ice, got me out of several miles of 3ft of snow with ice underneath. I highly recommend the steel spring chain tensions. When properly installed you can get these chains nice and tight. I can only run chains on my rear tires due to upper control arm clearance issues (‘08 Tacoma) so I’m giving my second pair to my brother (‘12 f150) for his rear tires.

Perfect fit and prompt delivery

by:

Very nice product, installed fairly easily. Purchased them as chains are required going thru the Vail Pass in Colorado thru the end of May but hopefully won't have to put them on.

by:

Chain fit well for this application. A bit disappointed it took 15 days for them to arrive.

by:

Great product works as described. Keeps us going in the snow back country roads Utah.

Shipping is slower than expected other than that great customer service and love the chains

Great product and price...

I’m impressed. These tire chains are the real deal. I looked at various options online, Amazon, etc. I found etrailer. First, the web page is packed with info, tutorials, etc. once I ordered there was continuous communication. I downgraded from a 4x4 to a 4x2, and drive up to Buffalo, NY, from coastal Carolina. These chains are impressive and will provide traction and ease of mind going through the snow belt areas along Lake Erie and parts of the blue ridge mountains. I’ve hit heavy snow on this trip and wished I had a good tire chain. This resolved it. Installing is a breeze be sure to get the tire chain adjusters with them! Excellent service!

by:

These chains are well built. My 1 ton truck was in 6” deep snow when I chained up. The truck was able to tractor right up A steep hill. The binder is stout steel, not a stamped piece prone to bending. I used rubber tensioners. The combo worked great. All of my use has been off pavement this far. I bought two sets and would do it again.

by:

Heavy duty well made. I bought these because I got my 37 foot travel trailer stuck in the mud and needed to push it uphill in reverse. After 3 failed attempts I ordered these and easily had enough traction to move a 10,000 lbs trailer. Very good quality.

by:

I am impressed with the Titan Snow Tire Chains I purchased recently. They appear to be well made and sturdy. They fit my tires and were easy to install. The V-Bar links allow me to drive into the woods with the confidence that I will be able to return home safely.

by:

The chains I ordered were delivered on the date promised. They were well packaged and undamaged. These chains are for the front axle of my 4WD tractor. The tractor has R4 tires that are worthless in snow, and I think these chains will vastly improve my traction. I installed the chains and with some adjustment they are just right size wise. I will test them when we get the next snow that needs to be plowed. Excellent transaction and product from etrailer.

They worked awesome!

by:

Great product, used them today to break through the snow to cut wood. Etrailer continues to set the standard for how Internet bussiness should be done.

by:

Fast and accurate processing. The chains and tensioners were as described

by:

The trailer hitch for our Subaru Crosstrek is perfect!

by:

They fit great so im happy.

by:

Nice chain set. They will work great. Got them on time. etrailer is a great company, i have bought 3 hitches from them over the years. Great job.

by:

Tires chains: why did i wait so long? etrailer.com was easy to deal with as usual. My only complaint is that i had to go to another vendor to buy plastic ramps to ease installation. My neighbor has a pair and they are perfect.
I own a second home on a hill in the snow belt of Pennsylvania. After years of plowing, melting snow and ice, sliding off the driveway more times that i can count i stopped plowing the hill and put chains on the four wheel drive parked at the bottom of the driveway. The snow piles up and and truck goes up and down like it is on a dry road. I didn't use the low range once all winter.

After a couple of tries the chains are a breeze to mount. No good for dry roads but magic on snow and ice. Worth twice the price.

I should have bought these 20 years ago. I haven’t had to mount chains on the front yet! Saved me 5x the price not plowing the road

These titan snow chains with the v bars are perfect for any cold weather conditions. I’ve used them on my 2000 Nissan Frontier in deep snow and on dirt mountain roads with steep inclines that were covered with about an inch of ice below 5-6inches of snow. 2 pairs of chains would work better for those types of extreme conditions but 1 pair got me where I needed to be! I’ll be ordering an extra set for sure!

  • Do You Recommend Tire Chains or Cables on My 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe?
Thanks so much for following up with us. To answer your first question, there is a huge difference between chains like the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link # TC2317 and cables like the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains PW2019C that fit size 235/55-19 tires on your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. Tire chains have much more grip/traction that cables. If you are going to Yosemite and are expecting heavy snow, the cables will be barely effective (if at all). If you like...

  • What Affordable Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 2014 Hyundai Sante Fe AWD?
Help is to the rescue! I went ahead and looked up your tire specs in the owner's manual of your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, and the manual states that you can either use front chains only or all 4 tires for your all-wheel drive model. For standard 235/55-19 tires, the manual recommends using tire chain thickness less than 15mm. For affordable chains that fit these specs, I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - V-Bar Links # TC2819. These economical tire chains have the...
