7-Way Trailer Wiring Connector Recommendation for 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan with Blue Connector
Published 09/22/2017 >
Question:
VW unfortunately does not always send power down wires unless a complete connection is made. Thus, even when I tried with a 12v circuit tester with lights and one turn signal on it came up as no power. I think I'm just gonna order the HM40975 and hope it works. I would assume you guys would have heard from purchasers if a whole bunch of other stuff needed to be done once it's purchased. If it works I'll broadcast it far and wide as nobody, including VW, can give a concrete answer as to if the pre-wired connector is ready to go with an adapter. I know VW sells a module that alters braking and tranny for towing and I was told not mandatory. I'm only going to tow 4-8 times per year but I do need to tow.

The connector you found on your 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan is great news. That is a standard 7-way connector plug which means to install trailer wiring all you'd need is the # HM40975 which plug connect right to that and give you both a 4-way and a 7-way. This install is just a matter of plugging the connector in and does not require any additional wiring.
