Fifth wheel hitch placement. 2017 ram 3500 diesel dually 8 ft bed with puck system Should king pin be slightly forward , maybe 2 inches, of axle or directly above axle

For your 2017 Ram 3500 with an 8 foot bed, installing a 5th-wheel hitch so that the trailer king pin falls directly over or just slightly forward of the rear axle center point is ideal.
For a 5th-wheel hitch that will mount directly to the puck system on your truck, I recommend the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16044. This is a great hitch that features an interlocking, 2-jaw system for a secure connection with the trailer and a towing weight capacity of 20,000 pounds.
