Where Is The VIN Number on a Sure Trac Utility Trailer Found?

Question:

Hello, I am searching for the vin number on a Sure Trac utility trailer. The only plate found was on the axle. Its a Dexter Axle, P11, Model SLR, Serial number D2277972 Would any of this be used for the vin number? Or where would I find it? Thank you.

That is a good question. Usually a utility trailer's VIN number will be found on the frame near the trailer tongue but it actually can be printed anywhere on the frame. It may also be on a sticker that carries the manufacturer name and trailer model information. That sticker may be positioned in an out of the way location to protect it from wear from regular use and road hazards. It should be a 17 character VIN.

In cases of trailers that have no VIN, your local state police or highway patrol can assign a VIN number for you.
