Automated rear hatch opening systems on vehicles like your 2017 Nissan Rogue usually have multiple sensors at various points on the rear bumper cover. Hitch installation will often block the centrally-located sensor but usually does not affect those towards the outside edges of the bumper.
So if you were to install one of the available 2-inch Class III hitches like Draw-Tite # 75902 or Curt # C13204, or either of the 1-1/4-inch Class II models, # 36542 or # C12122, you will just need to swing your foot past one of the outer sensors for the lift gate feature to function.
Of all the hitch options for your Rogue, shown on the linked page, the one I recommend for towing is the Curt # C13204 since it offers the highest tongue weight rating, 525-lbs. Note this hitch does require you to use support strap # 18050 for any static load like a cargo carrier or bike rack, but this is not needed when towing. An install video is linked for you.
