What is a Waterproof Storage Solution for a Roof Cargo Basket?

Im interested in purchasing a Malone roof rack and a cargo basket. Either Curt or Rula. I have a 2016 jeep renegade. I will use mostly for camping - twice a month. Two questions: 1 do you recommend taking everything off when not in use or should it be left on. 2 I see you have cargo nets but I couldnt find a waterproof cover to hold down my load and keep it dry. Is there such a thing? thanks

It is absolutely fine to leave a roof cargo basket on when it is not in use. This adds a rugged style to the vehicle and means that you will not need to find space inside your home or garage to store the rack between trips.
A recommended setup for a cargo basket on a 2016 Jeep Renegade is the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack, part # MPG216 combined with the Curt Roof Mounted Basket, part # C18115. This provides additional cargo space and is expandable with the Cargo Basket Extender, part # C18117 to add 21" to the cargo space. I am recommending this particular rack because of the option of expanding to meet any changing needs you have, as well as the availability of a specifically fit waterproof bag.
Inside of the cargo basket, you can mount the waterproof Curt Cargo Bag, part # C18220, which is sized for the recommended cargo basket, providing 13.5 cubic feet of waterproofed storage. Additionally, this can be removed if you do not need the waterproofing.
If you're looking to use a cargo net as a temporary solution, I recommend the Curt Stretchable net, part # C18200. This net lets you lock variable size cargo into the net and keep it secure. THe extra size will give you the ability to hold taller cargo inside the net.
If a waterproof storage solution is your primary concern, I recommend a roof box such as the Malone Roof Box, part # MPG901, instead. This will provide a secure, covered solution for your gear on your way to and from your camping site. It is comparable in size and provided cargo space to the rack, though you'll sacrifice vertical space in exchange for security and dryness. This however, would best be removed between uses as opposed to the roof rack.
