Question:
2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 I need to add a trailer brake controller. I have the trailer package. Trailer lighting wiring is in place. Just curious if the vehicle is ready for a plug and play controller. Thanks.

There is no plug-and-play brake controller harness for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 so brake controller installation will be a hard-wire process. Under the driver's seat there should be a green plug.
The wires to this plug can be tested with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to confirm their function since vehicle wire colors are not always consistent.
A brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 has 4 wires that require connection to the Sprinter.
The black wire is 12V input power to the controller. This wire should connect to the vehicle wire that has a steady 12V signal when you test it.
The red wire on the controller is for the input signal from the brake light switch. This red wire should connect to the vehicle wire that has a signal on it ONLY when you press the brake pedal. If you cannot find this wire you will need to install Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751475 which will give you the brake pedal signal needed to trigger the controller.
The white wire on the controller is ground and this this can be routed directly to the battery negative terminal, or to the ground wire at the plug.
The blue wire is the controller output signal that gets routed to the brake circuit pin on the 7-way.
