There is not a brake controller wiring harness adapter port on your 2017 Ford Explorer. The adapter port was available on previous years of the Ford Explorer but has since been phased out. In order to install a brake controller such as the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 you will need to use the Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers part # 5506 if you have a factory 7-way or the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7 if you only have a 4-way trailer connector. If you do not have either a 4 or 7-way trailer connector then you will need a 4-way wiring harness such as the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118540 in addition to part # ETBC7.
I have attached a few helpful install videos on the above products for you as well.
