Question:
Hello, I want to get a trailer hitch for a 2016 Suaru crosstrek. Im trying to decide between Eco hitch code # 306-X7203 and Curt code # C13135. I need to know if I will lose clearance or departure angle and if so how much? Please be specific. Thanks.

Any trailer hitch whose receiver tube is positioned below a vehicle's rear bumper is going to reduce ground clearance and approach angle to some degree. The actual clearance lost depends on many factors including wheel/tire size, passenger and cargo load in the vehicle and the general condition of the suspension. On a newer vehicle like your 2016 Subaru Crosstrek it is not too likely that your suspension is sagging but this does matter on older vehicles.
The two 2-inch hitches you referenced, Curt # C13135 and Eco Hitch # 306-X7203, differ in that the Eco-Hitch installs behind your vehicle's factory knockout panel while the Curt will sit below the bumper cover as seen in the linked video. The top of the Curt hitch receiver opening will sit approximately 14-inches from the ground as shown in the linked video at the 1:30 mark. In total you lose about 3-inches of clearance at that point.
These two hitches also differ substantially in price and in the complexity of the installation process, the fully-hidden Eco-Hitch model being a far more involved installation. This hitch requires temporary removal of bumper/fascia during installation as well as trimming. Your vehicle must have the knock-out panel to use the Eco-Hitch.
If your primary aim is not to lose any ground clearance then the Eco-Hitch is the way to go. Do note this hitch cannot be used with trailer towing weight distribution systems.
