Question:
I have new 2017 Keystone Montana 3820FK and I want to carry 2 ebikes, 57 lbs each on the back. Have 4-inch steel bumper welded to 4-inch tube frame with angles on both sides. 4-inch tube frame is attached to 2-inch tube frame which is attached to trailer frame. Max weight for bumper per manufacturer is less than 150 lbs. I want to use the Swagman E-Spec, but I need to reinforce bumper. Have looked at Safety Struts by Mount-n-Lock and High-Low receiver, or look at installing a separate hitch receiver that attaches to the frame. Tongue weight would have to be higher for distance and dynamic loads. Any comments or concerns?

If you would like to use the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR, to carry your pair of E-bikes, you can do so by using a hitch receiver that you can bolt or weld to the frame. The Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, # 13703, is a universal, adjustable hitch which will work on frames with a width of 22 inches up to 72 inches.
This is a Class III hitch - which is the what the Swagman E-Spec requires - that has a tongue weight of 350 lbs. This hitch does require the use of support straps, # 18050, though if you do not want to use those straps, another hitch option would be the Ultra-Fab, # UF35-946403. This hitch is for frames between 47 inches and 77 inches wide and has a 350 lb tongue weight, but can only be welded on.
