Question:
Why is this unit not recommended for use on a fifth wheel? Assuming I have the correct hitch which is rated for well in excess of what this unit holds is there a problem with installing it on my fifth wheel?

The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2 # HR200Z can be used on any passenger vehicle and on a motorhome, but not on a travel trailer or 5th wheel.
The reason why some bike racks should not be used on 5th wheels is that there is extra motion at the hitch on such vehicles. There is typically a much greater distance from the rear axle to the hitch on a 5th wheel trailer than on a passenger vehicle. This extra distance translates into more motion at the hitch as the trailer moves around on the road. Some bike racks are just not made to handle this stress even though they will work fine on a car, van or truck.
For your 5th wheel we do have specialized racks that will be safe and secure thanks to their heavier construction. The two I suggest for your consideration are the Swagman E-Spec 2 # S94FR and their Dispatch 2 # S44FR, both platform racks like the Trail Rider.
The E-Spec # S64693 frame-mount so it is a great choice. It also handles heavy bikes, up to 60-lbs each. The Dispatch handles 45-lb bikes, and it is also a frame-mount rack that grips the frame tube.
If you need a wheel-mount rack, I suggest the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount
Item # KU84FR.
The better option between these three capable racks will depend on your specific bikes' designs. please check out the videos for each rack that are linked for you.
