On your 2017 Range Rover Sport, the best option for a brake controller is the Curt Echo # C51180. This will use a factory 7-way or aftermarket 7-way for proper function.

If you have a factory 7-way, you can simply plug this brake controller into your trailer connector and you will be ready to go.

If you don't have a factory 7-way, you will need to start with a 4-way flat connection. If you don't have one, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118681. This will plug into your factory wiring harness located just behind the rear bumper. Then you will use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7.
