Purpose of Adjuster Nuts in Dexter Over Under Axle Kit
Published 05/18/2017 >
Question:
Does the adjuster nuts have to be used if I weld the spring seat to the axle? I see that adjuster nuts come with the kit but I dont see the bolts for the adjuster nuts... Do I need to buy bolts for the adjust nuts? What is the size of the adjuster nuts and bolts? Thanks

Expert Reply:
If you weld the spring seats to the axle you still want to use the adjuster nuts, but in reality it wouldn't be a total necessity.
The adjuster nuts serve two purposes:
Aiding in establishing and keeping new spring pad parallel with original spring pad, and transferring road shock and brake torque from new unwelded spring pads to original welded spring pad.
I attached a picture that shows how the kit looks when installed for you to check out as well.
