Question:
When I first purchased my 2017 Chevy Bolt EV a month ago, only one bike hitch was listed the Curt Item # C11457. But comments on various forums said this hitch hung down further than it should in fact, one purchaser had a welder cut down the hitch so it would have further ground clearance. I also read that the Curt hitch might be redesigned, and my dealership says the it is now on backorder with no indication of when it might be available again! So I came back to your website and now see an additional hitch listed for the 2017 Bolt EV: the Draw-Tite Item # 24956. On one forum it stated that the Draw-Tite installed was much closer to the Bolts rear bumper fascia than the Curt. So ... what do your experts think: 1. Which is better for the Bolt? 2. And if the Draw-Tite is better, will it nullify my Bolt warranty because its not listed on the Chevy Website? 3. Whom would be best to install the hitch? Dealership or someone else?

Between the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C11457, and the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch , # 24956, I recommend the Draw-Tite Hitch for its better ground clearance.
The Draw-Tite hitch's receiver opening sits closer to the hitch cross tube. The location of the receiver will give you more ground clearance over the Curt hitch design. When installing this hitch, minor trimming of the bumper fascia is required.
Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question.
As for installation, I recommend calling around from the dealer to other automotive to get a few price quotes. Once, you have a few that are in your price range, then check the BBB website to see if any of these companies have any bad customers reviews.
