I had the Trailer Hitch receiver installed about a year ago. It may be the car, or the hitch, but I can only put two light bikes on it with my smallest bike rack. So two road bikes do well, as does one hybrid or Mountain bike.

It us usable nut not ideal. Cannot carry more than one bike. With two bikes the rack bounces alot.

by:

good stuff for my 2020 Chevy bolt EV LT.
The
only reason it is not 5 star is the quality of mounting instructions.
I followed up the ECO trailer mounting video and ended up having issues with CURT hitch installation which is different. Once figured it out everything was fine.
See pictures for reference.
whole thing took me 2hrs just by myself with frequent breaks

The unit arrived in a couple of days. Just a big box with a bit of heavy steel in it. Thanks for no bubble wrap to landfill. Instructions were terse. I followed them. They were Much better than the [online's]. The whole process took about an hour. Looks great. Should easily hold up a couple of Tadpole trikes. Hope it doesn’t burn battery too fast.

Installed on 2017 Chevy Bolt.
Easy

2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV

Had some issues installing - there appears to be an extra plate on the 2020 Bolt that needs an extra nut to be removed and then added back between the hitch rack and the nut. Krzysztof's review shows the plate.

The reason for the 1 star review is the hitch doesn't hold my rack firmly. There is significant bounce using the Kuat NV 2.0 rack with a single MTB (~25lbs) on it. With 2 bikes on the rack, it seems unsafe.

Maybe the rack is too heavy for this hitch, but the rack (50lbs) plus the MTB (25 lbs) is well below the rating of 100lbs.

Thank you for the review! I wanted to first share a link about what a normal amount of movement looks like. Secondly, an anti rattle device may take care of any other excessive bouncing. I shared a link to our anti rattle devices.

Amazing customer service and insane fast shipping!! Thank you so much for another great transaction, and a great deal.

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

This hitch fit my 2017 Chevy Bolt perfectly. I carry bikes on a Yakima hitch-style rack, and pull a small solar power trailer when we're working remotely. I've even pulled a 6'x12' flatbed trailer with mulch on this hitch with my Bolt (suspension complains, but car has plenty of power). Now I just have to figure out how to wire into the Bolt for trailer wiring. I hired a friend's shop to install the hitch, so can't speak to ease if installation, but they had no problems.

by:
Chevrolet

We use the hitch for carrying a bike rack and towing a utility trailer on our Chevy Bolt. The hitch was easy to install and works great.

by:

It is perfect! It arrived in short order and was easy to instal. I am using it with a bike rack, so I did not need any electrical connections, but that can be installed with this hitch.

Toyota Prius

This is the third trailer hitch that I have purchased from eTrailer. They have all been easy to install and have served us well. One has been on our Prius for years and there is no sign of rust, so the paint coating is solid.

by:

Product is solid. Included instructions were at just the right level of detail. Was a simple install' didn't even have to jack up the car.

by:
2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV

Well built, easy installation. The explanation and picture in Step 2 could be better, though, because it wasn't obvious where the bolts were that had to be removed.

very fast shipping and delivery, Exactly what I ordered, great quality and easy installation.

Thank You for your great service....

by:

This hitch was surprisingly easy to install and looks good. I was afraid it would require a lot of cutting and then stick out, but it's unobtrusive and only required a small cutout from the facia.

by:
2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

I liked the information you gave on this product. I just finished installing it on my new Chevy Bolt. Although it took a little longer than you said, it fit perfectly. customer service was great. Tom.

by:

Easy enough to install. Does the job.

  • Trailer Hitch for 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV
The only trailer hitch we currently have confirmation of fit for a 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11457 which I confirmed by reaching out to Curt directly. The Curt Trailer Hitch is an excellent option for the Chevrolet Bolt EV as it offers a bolt-on fit with no cutting or drilling required. It has a hidden design so only the receiver tube is shown which makes for a very clear install look as you can see in the attached photo. The Curt Trailer Hitch is...

  • Required Stabilization Strap For Curt Trailer Hitch On 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV
For your 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class I - 1-1/4" # C11457 according to Curt's instructions requires stabilization strap # 18050 for any non-trailer load including bike racks and cargo carriers. It is one of the draw-backs to Curt trailer hitch receivers that use without that strap voids warranties. You can see in the attached installation details their requirement at the very top in bold.

  • Weight of Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2019 Chevy Bolt EV
I checked directly with the manufacturer to find the weight of the hitch that fits your 2019 Chevy Bolt EV, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11457. According to them, this hitch weighs 21.1 lbs. I have added a link below to the installation instructions for you to check out as well.

  • Is Stabilization Strap 18050 Required For Curt Hitch on 2020 Chevy Bolt EV
For some hitches it is required by Curt to use the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap # 18050 in order to maintain the warranty of the hitch, though for many they have backed off of that recently. Thankfully, the Curt hitch that fits your 2020 Chevy Bolt EV does not require the use of the strap; the hitch that fits your vehicle is the following: - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11457 If you take a look below at the installation instructions you can see that Curt recommends the use of the...

  • Recommendation on a Trailer Hitch for a 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV
Between the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C11457, and the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch , # 24956, I recommend the Draw-Tite Hitch for its better ground clearance. The Draw-Tite hitch's receiver opening sits closer to the hitch cross tube. The location of the receiver will give you more ground clearance over the Curt hitch design. When installing this hitch, minor trimming of the bumper fascia is required. Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The...

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2017 Chevy Bolt and Thule EasyFold Bike Rack
Yes, you can use either Draw-Tite hitch # 24956 or Curt trailer hitch # C11457 with the Thule EasyFold bike rack, # TH903202, on your 2017 Chevy Bolt. If it were me I would go with the Draw-Tite hitch # 24956 for 2 reasons. First, Draw-Tite does not require the use of a stabilization strap for non-trailer loads like Curt does. If you went with the Curt hitch you would also need to use stabilization strap # 18050. And second customers have reported that the receiver on the Curt hitch hangs...

  • Is Trimming Required To Install Trailer Hitch On 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV
The trailer hitch options for a 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV all require minor trimming of an underbody fascia panel. That said, this won't even be visible from outside the vehicle. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11457 however does require the least amount of trimming so this is what I recommend. I have attached a photo below.

Thank you for the photos, and I do see that metal piece there interfering with the Curt Hitch # C11457 on your 2020 Chevy Bolt EV. I can tell you that we have not seen this before, and I called Curt who also said it's something they have not had any customers reach out to them about it and have never come across this issue. That is a bracket for a harness which looks to be sticking out more than it should, possibly causing interference. Curt told me the best thing to try and do was use...

The exact instructions from Curt are as followed: "Mark out a 2.25" x 4.5" section using masking tape. Trim lower fascia using aviation shears. NOTE: All dimensions are approximate, confirm fit prior to installation." I attached a picture of the trim diagram that...

Yes, the Curt hitch part # C11457 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Chevy Bolt and would do a great job carrying a bike rack. The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. • Comparing Trailer Hitch Receivers For 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV
I would be happy to go over the trailer hitch receiver options for your 021 Chevrolet Bolt EV, but the Curt # C13315 and # C12170 you were looking at are designed for certain years of the Mazda CX-5 and will not fit your vehicle. For your Bolt EV there is the Curt # C11457 that has a 1-1/4" receiver, Draw-Tite # 24956 that has a 1-1/4" receiver, and the EcoHitch # 306-X7359 that has a 2" receiver. The capacities for the Curt Hitch part # C11457 are how much the hitch itself can tow/carry. These capacities are separate from the capacities of the vehicle although they are related. What you would need to do is determine the towing capacities of the vehicle and then go with the lower rated figures between the hitch and the vehicle. Actually the hitch has a 2,000 lb total trailer weight capacity and 200 lb tongue weight capacity. From our research it looks to be 100 lbs tongue weight...

No there will only be 1-1/4 inches for the 2017 Chevy Bolt. The issue is that manufacturers match up the vehicle capabilities with the appropriate size hitch. The Sportrack Bike Rack part # SR2703 that you referenced can fit in Class I hitches like what you have installed on your 2017 Chevy Bolt, but you should note that you would be limited to carrying only 2 bikes with this rack since your hitch is a Class I.
