Question:

when I place a silicone 5th wheel pad on my king pin I cannot connect it to my hitch, it seems like the jaws wont fit. does this seem right. I really do not want to grease my pin box or plate,

That doesn't seem right that your king pin won't fit unless you are using the wrong lube plate. There are a couple lube plates we recommend for use with B&W Companion hitch like # BWRVK3500. The proper size lube plate for use with the B&W Companion hitch is a 10 inch diameter lube plate.

I recommend the Reese Lube Plate for Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 10 inch Diameter, item # RP83002 or the Curt 10 inch Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Lube Plate # 16721. We have confirmed either will both work well with your Companion hitch.
