Is E-Track Backing Plate Needed if Attach E-Track to 2x8 Boards on a Trailer

Updated 01/11/2017 | Published 01/10/2017

Question:

I am installing E-track onto the floor of my aluminum open ATV trailer will be hauling two ATVs, approx. 700 lbs each. The floor consists of treated 2x8s. Is the backing plate necessary, or would bolt/washer/nut every 4 holes with 1inch screws in all other holes be sufficient? Thanks!

Expert Reply:

Considering that the floor is made of wooden 2x8 boards on your trailer you would not have to use a backing plate but at the same time you can never be too safe. So it would still be a good idea to use backing plates such as # e96RR if you decided to.
