Will this part # 118377 short circuit my vehicles wiring system if the trailer wiring is faulty?

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118377 that you referenced will not short out the vehicle wiring in the event of a trailer wiring short. It has circuit protection built into the harness. The converter box will short out and fail which would prevent the short from traveling up to the vehicle wiring.
