Can Brophy 2-1/2 to 2 Inch Hitch Reducer and Extender be Used with Weight Distribution
Updated 09/12/2016 | Published 09/10/2016 >
Question:
Can my weight distributing hitch be used with the Brophy Hitch Reducer. I have a 2013 Dodge 2500 pick up with a 2.5inch receiver and a 2inch mount on my 6000lb travel trailer. I bought a Reese adapter that says on it not for use with weight distributing hitches I just dont want to purchase another one that wont work.

Brophy hitch extender and reducer # HR26 is indeed rated for use with weight distribution. When used with weight distribution this reducer is rated for 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 1,000 pounds tongue weight.
However, the use of this extender reduces the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 1/3. So for example if your trailer hitch tongue weight capacity is 1,000 pounds it would be reduced to 667 pounds when using the extension.
The other option is to use a 2-1/2 inch shank and skip the extender. I don't know what weight distribution system you have so I included a link to all of the 2-1/2 inch weight distribution shanks we carry.
