Comparison Of SMI Stay-In-Play Duo And Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Brake Systems
Question:
Which product do you recommend - SMI Stay-In-Play Duo or Roadmaster InvisiBrake??? They both seem to be very similar, though Roadmaster claims that their system keeps the towed vehicle battery charged. I am curious which system you think is best. It will be installed on a Jeep Wrangler. I do like that the InvisiBrake Monitor is installed in the towing vehicle as we would not be able to see the windshield mounted monitor for the SMI Stay-In-Play Duo.

Both the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO, part # SM99251 and the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System, part # RM-8700 are nice braking systems and will function similarly but I recommend the Duo system. Both systems are a one-time installation.
The # SM99251 is easier to install because it has a shorter arm that is used in the towed-vehicle where the longer cable used with the # RM-8700 can be tough to find places to mount. I have attached a couple photos that show how the brake pedal arm is set up you can check out.
As far as the LED light on the DUO system, you could run a longer wire from the unit in the Jeep back up tot he towing vehicle. You will need to make sure you use a quick disconnect that lets you attach and reconnect the unit when you are not towing.
