Question:

What is your base plates rated for, I have a 2009 Dodge 3/4 ton 4WD weights approx. 7120 pds. Do these base plates come with remove pin and which tow bar is required with these base plates. Thanks

When base plate kits are manufactured for a vehicle they don't give a specific weight rating for it but they do make them strong enough to tow the weight of the vehicle being flat towed. The part # DM9518134 is rated for the weight of your 2009 Dodge Ram 3500 and will work well.

The compatible tow bar I recommend is the Excali-Bar # DM9511013. Everything you need to connect the truck to the motorhome is included between the base plates and the tow bar. Even the safety cables.

For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV. You also need a Brake-Lite relay to keep the Ram's lights from overriding the motorhome's.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest systems to set up and use are portable systems like the Blue Ox Patriot Radio Frequency # BLU37TR along with the # RM-9332. It applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry.
