Question:
I cant figure out which hitch to purchase for my 2012 Chevy Sonic. I see there are two options. One for a sportframe and one for ordinary ?. My Sonic is an LT, 6-speed manual, turbo. Can you tell me? Or how do I figure this out? Thanks,

There were two models of the Chevrolet Sonic lt in 2012. One is a 4-door sedan and the other model is a 5-door hatchback.
If you have a 4-door sedan then the trailer hitch I recommend is the Curt part # C11240. This is a Class l trailer hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.
For a 5-door hatchback I recommend the Draw-Tite # 24878. This is also a Class l hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.
If you end up with a Curt hitch, Curt requires a stabilizing strap like part # 18050 when using an unsupported load like a bike rack or cargo carrier. You would not use this with a trailer.
If you are planning on doing some light towing with your Sonic I recommend a ball mount like part # C45019. This ball mount features a 5/8 inch rise or 1-1/4 inch drop. If you need a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I recommend part # C40001 and for a 2-inch hitch ball you can use part # C40018.
For a trailer wiring harness I recommend the T-One Trailer wiring Harness, part # 118640.
If you plan on carrying a bike carrier in the hitch I recommend the Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack, part # S64670.
