Easy to install, did it by myself & have been using it for a year. I highly recommend this hitch.

by:

I am very happy with the Curt hitch I purchased for my 2014 Sonic Hatchback. Instructions were right on and delivery was as promised. It is a quality made product!

by:

We installed the hitch on our 2016
Chevrolet Sonic. Installation time was about 45 minutes and was a perfect fit. The installation video was a huge help.

by:

My hitch was shipped promptly and arrived in two days. Installation was a breeze. Using the included fishwires, install time was under 30 minutes on my 2016 Chevy Sonic. This is my second Curt hitch install ( previous on Dodge Dakota ) and both fit
well and look great.
etrailer is always great to work with. Fast delivery and products fit. Thanks!

by:

Thank you etrailer the hitch i ordered from you was perfect and the price was great! The best part was it was delivered the day you said it would be! The video you have on the install was very helpful and the hitch went in very easily and in the time you estimated.THANK YOU

by:

I use my hitch to carry a Thule bike rack, and it has worked perfectly.

by:

the hitch was delivered in a timely manner. installation was simple and instructions were consise.
this is a quality product and would recommend it without any hesitation.

by:

Installed the Curt Custom fit hitch on my 2014 Sonic Hatchback. The hitch was easy to install as all the parts needed were included. The directions provided were easy to follow. It took me about 30 minutes to get it installed. I did it by myself so the hardest part was holding it in place while I put the nuts on. The hitch looks great and fits under the car nicely.

by:

I think that the hitch is great and serves its purpose but regardless of what I do, it makes an enormous amount of noise that comes inside the cabin. The vibration against the frame I am assuming. I plan to eventually add rubber between the frame and hitch to dampen this.

by:

Etrailer.com couldn’t have made this purchase and install any more simple. The videos provided on the website were perfect and I was able to install this on my own in about an hour, the hitch and wiring harness. Thank you for the video support, it took any and all guesswork out of the project.

by:

Received my order, shipping, sales and customer service are doing a great job.
Hitch was easy to install, thanks for the detailed instruction. Hitch fit perfectly and look solid.
You can quote me for your review. I usually do not comment or rate my purchase. Good work etrailer.com???

by:

With a need for a hitch for my '13 Chevy Sonic hatchback I did an internet search. I came across several websites but Etrailer.com's site was the one I chose. The day after ordering the hitch I recieved a phone call from Etrailer.com letting me know that the hitch I had ordered was on back order. They give me several other options that was in stock. Two days later I had a Curt hitch on my porch and had it installed in under 30 minutes. If I ever need anything for any of my trailers or hitch related items for my other vehicles, Etrailer.com will be my first stop.

by:

The product fit exactly as advertised. I had no problem with the install other than doing it by myself. Still had it installed in about 30 min. Since I sold my truck for something lighter to pull behind my RV (the Sonic Hatchback) and didn't want to put a hitch on my wife's car; I will use it to pull my 16' catamaran. Thanks for a great product. Also brought the wiring harness and it too was and easy install.

by:

Hitch arrived on schedule. Fit perfectly. Instructions were clear and no missing parts. Installation took about 20 minutes.

No issues.

by:

The hitch is usable but it doesn't clear the exhaust enough and causes very loud vibration between the exhaust and hitch. I will need to inspect it and probably add some kind of rubber between them to help with sound.

You mentioned that you are experiencing vibration between the hitch and the exhaust. This is something that hitch owners will run into from time to time. We do have a FAQ that can help with fixing it. Please see the link below. The most common solution is to bend the exhaust hanger to allow more clearance between the hitch and the exhaust.

by:

The hitch arrived with bent arms, so it would not fit. I contacted customer support, and Jacob sent me a link addressing the problem. Long story short, the hitch is installed and seems great. Thank you.

Hitch works perfectly and there have been no issues.

by:

Great product, installed myself, had it for a year already! Use it for my cargo rack, which is great.

by:

Been a fantastic hitch. Maybe 20 min to install by myself. I have been using it for my two bike carriers on the back of a Chevy sonic. No complaints.

Still a great hitch. Haven’t had any issues. I’ve checked the mount bolts a few time in the last year and they are still holding tight.

by:

This hitch has worked great! After I installed this I pulled my mini speed boat over 2 hours with my Chevy Sonic without a problem. The installation was simple and I highly recommend etrailer.com!

by:

Rebecca N was such a great help in ordering the correct receiver for my 2012 Sonic Hatchback! She also aided in expediting my order and the shipment arrived on time as promised. Installation was a snap, a perfect fit and all parts were included. The quality of the part is top notch. I also ordered a 1-1/4" Euro Ball Mount draw bar with 2" Ball, which unlike an adapter, allowed me to retain the maximum tongue weight of 200 lbs for a class I hitch. Overall a great experience.

by:

Product was delivered fast. Quality was excellent. Installation was easy thanks to the detailed instructions and video.

After a year the Hitch still works fine..

2016 Chevy Sonic Hatchback: Hitch arrived on time as promised. Hitch arrived in good shape but started to break lose from bracing in the box. Installed in the driveway. I backed the car up on blocks to give a bit more room for the install. Instructions call for 2 people to lift the hitch in place but I accomplished alone with wood blocks to hold the hitch up while I attached. Took about 2 hours all said and done. I'm hoping the powder paint finish will help the hitch stay rust free longer than normal paint in a salt environment. The installation video and wire pulls are very helpful.

by:

I have an aftermarket Borla cat back exhaust. I had to fabricate two 3/8 thick spacers to keep the 4" exhaust tip from banging around.

by:

Fantastic:
The hitch fit very well,
installed very easily, and I only had very minor issues. One small fitment issue with about a half inch by half inch piece of the bumper where it would have rubbed and possibly squeaked, I trimmed that small piece away as it was far underneath and did not affect anything visually or structurally. The only other very minor issue I had was the pin that was sent with the hitch would not fit in the small space between the safety chain holes and the bumper but I like that it is a very small tight area keeping the hitch Compact and up out of the way I had another pin and will probably just use that.
The installation went very quickly even though I did not lift the car up on jack stands I had a little bit of issue with my big hands getting in to work the nuts on to the bolts but was able to work past that by using the fishing wire to pull the bolt with one hand while threading the nut on with the other that giving me the tension, so the bolt did not push up into the frame and get lost.
The installation took me right around a half hour total from unboxing to coming back in here and writing this review.
I am not planning on towing a trailer with it I intend to only use this for a bike rack but did not just want a hitch for the weight of a bike rack as I can now move a trailer around if I need to. I did not and do not plan to install trailer lighting.

Still working great, i use it for a bike rack but have not and likely will not use it to tow a trailer, the car and the hitch are not built for the trailers i have.

by:

Everything fit as described. I also used the two way plug to feed the 12v refrigerator and lights. Curt wiring harness was purchased and worked as described.

Glad it's working well for you, Rickie! And that's a cool little trailer! Is it basically a rolling fridge? Or is it more like a rolling kitchen with a fridge in it?

Trailer is a cargo trailer. I hope to throw in a couple suitcases and etc for short trips. Trailer pulls good with your Curt hitch setup. Thanks

  • Recommended Bike Rack and Hitch for a 2012 Chevy Sonic
Hey Jennifer, it does actually look like we have something you can use. For your 2012 Chevy Sonic you can use the hitch # C11258 with the Thule Epos Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH99XE. This bike rack has a 140 lb capacity, will work with a class I hitch, and can be used with the aluminum ramp # TH43VA to make loading your bikes easier.

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2013 Chevrolet Sonic
All of the trailer hitches available for the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic are Class I trailer hitches. Most Class I trailer hitch receivers have a tab inside of the receiver to allow only certain accessories to be used with the receiver. This tab is intended to keep accessories from being used that can overload the Class I hitch. I have attached a help article on trailer hitch receiver sizes for you. Curt Class I trailer hitches do not have this tab, however they will require the bike rack, and...

  • Can The Curt C11258 Hitch For Chevy Sonic Tow A Single Axle Jetski Trailer?
Hello Edwin. The Curt Class 1 Hitch # C11258 for the 2015 Chevy Sonic is rated for towing up to 2,000 lbs. Based on what I can see online a SeaDoo RXP 300 weighs about 780 lbs. I imagine the corresponding trailer is fairly light as well. So, as long as the weight of the jetski and the trailer is less than 2,000 lbs you can absolutely pull a trailer with this hitch.

  • Trailer Hitch and Base Plate Kit Recommendation for a 2013 Chevy Sonic Hatchback
Since you have a hatchback model of the 2013 Chevy Sonic you will have to get on of the hitches for your vehicle that has a visible cross tube. The hidden cross tube hitches are for the sedans only. Of the hitches that are confirmed to fit the hatchback models I would recommend the Draw Tite hitch part # 24878 over the Curt hitch part # C11258 as the Curt has a bracket that goes under the exhaust and the Draw Tite goes over it making it less visible. I attached an install video for you...

  • Is a Vehicle Lift Required to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Chevy Sonic Hatchback not RS
Howdy to you, too! Installing a trailer hitch on your 2013 Chevy Sonic Hatchback does not require a lift. But there isn't much space between the ground and the vehicle so you would benefit from using a jack and jack stands. It will make the install process a lot easier and less frustrating. The available trailer hitch for your hatchback model is Curt hitch # C11258. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you. If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a...

  • Is Drilling Required to Install a Curt Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic LT Hatchback
There is no drilling required to install Curt trailer hitch # C11258 on your 2013 Chevy Sonic. • Can a Trailer Hitch be Installed on a 2015 Chevy Sonic Hatchback with Upgraded Exhaust
Trailer hitches are designed for and tested on stock vehicles so there isn't an easy way to determine if any of them would be compatible with the aftermarket exhaust. However, if the exhaust is professionally installed they would be able to work around any clearance issues with the hitch so I would have the hitch installed first. If you plan on doing any towing I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24878. The recommended ball mount is # 3590. Then for a 1-7/8 inch ball I recommend # 19256...
