Brake Controller for a 2012 Ram 2500 to Replace Factory Brake Controller
Published 08/08/2016 >
Question:
I have a 2012 ram 2500hd with a factory trailer brake control. I want to bypass it and order an aftermarket controller. I understand that the dealer has to reprogram the ITBM to get rid of the warning lamp. Will the new controller work before I get that reprogrammed? Also where will the aftermarket harness plug into? There are two plugs that go into the factory brake controller and the other end is hard wired in with a bunch of other wires. Thanks.

Yes, the new brake controller will work whether or not you have the ITBM reprogrammed on your 2012 Ram 2500. I recommend the P2 # 90885. It will require harness # 3021-P which will plug into a connector located under the dash near the emergency brake pedal. I have linked the instructions for this harness for you.
