Product was delivered quickly and everything necessary for installation was present. Directions (especially video directions were very helpful and appreciated. We had our only problem disconnecting the circuit plugs from the taillights, otherwise all went sommothly.

2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

Installed this trailer hitch on my wife's minivan Mother's Day morning 2016. Instructions were easy to follow and it fit without having to notch the bumper cover. Total installation time was about 90 minutes. Wife wasn't as excited about it as I thought she would be, so stopped and bought her some flowers, on the way home from fishing.

I finally got around to putting on the hitch!! Only had it a month! It took probably 20 minutes or so. Hardest part was dropping the exhaust system. Take it off from behind the muffler and back. Set hitch on floor jack, have helper hold it while you jack/guide it into place. Bingo, it's done, well, put in bolts first then you are done!

by:
2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

Following the instructions this was an easy install which I did myself and I'm 71. Ya, you have to move the exhaust pipe to the side, but that was no big deal.
I'm real happy about no modification was needed to the rear fascia. The receiver fits tight to the fascia and is hardly noticeable.
Unless you look close most people don't notice it's even there, which is why i like it, plus it does exactly what a hitch should do.
Another great product from Curt.....thank you !

It took about 50 minutes to install from start to finish. Most of the time was preparation, fitting it in place, and picking up my tool. The fit was perfect with the necessary attaching bolts in the auto frame. The video was a nice heads up to loosen the tail pipe.

I needed to use an 18mm box wrench for the front bolt above the tail pipe, otherwise a 1/2 inch ratchet wrench with a 13mm, 15mm, and 18mm worked. The tail pipe holder was a 1/2 socket.

I installed the hitch without raising the van. I put the hitch in place on the garage floor under the van and used a jack stand on each side to hold the hitch in place on the frame. I needed to raise the right side of the hitch and slide it in from the back as the tail pipe obstructed a straight up lift. On the left side there was no restriction. So fit the right side in place first. I always fit an accessory in place and hand tighten all the bolts before snugging and the final set. I put a few drops of medium (blue) Threadlocker on my bolts.

I received the hitch by UPS three days after I placed the order, using the free shipping option.
Thank you
Don J

This was my second purchase from etrailer.com. Both times I ordered a Curt hitch receiver and both times I have been completely satisfied with the product and the service.

Thanks guys, you're doing a great job!

2014 Ford Edge

Very easy installation on our 2014 T&C but I must admit my friend has a garage so we used his lift & pneumatic tools. I know I could have done it in my driveway but power tools made it so much easier. We just haul bikes so this Class II 1 1/4" is perfect. It sits just under the back bumper and back a couple inches from the edge so it's not sticking out at all. No trimming of the bumper was needed. All in all a great choice!

by:

Very happy with the hitch. I do wish I had purchased the 2" model, but what we purchased has been adequate.

by:

I appreciate the installation video however you may want to point out that the hanger bolts are small and can break when trying to remove

And alternate method is to pop out the rubber part of the hanger instead of tying to unscrew the hanger bolts

by:

SO glad to have etrailer within driving distance! Pay a very competitive cost on the trailer hitch and etrailer installs it for no charge. Does it get any better? Thank you for a job well done!

See what our Experts say about this CURT Trailer Hitch

  • Hitch Pin to Use with Curt Hitch # C12264
Hitch pin size doesn't matter that much I would say. As long as the pin fits through the hitch pin hole and the accessories hitch pin hole you'd be fine. That said, if you were looking at the Curt hitch part # C12264 the # F-4 is an easy solution for a hitch pin and clip.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver With the Highest Ground Clearance for a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country
We have actually installed both Curt Trailer Hitch Receivers, parts # C12264 and # 13364, as well as both Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receivers, parts # 36455 and # 75579, on similar 2012 Chrysler Town and Countrys. Out of all 4 of those choices the Draw-Tite Class II 1-1/4 inch receiver # 36455 offers the most ground clearance at 13 inches. This receiver has a max Gross Trailer Weight of 3,500 lbs and a max Tongue Weight of 300 lbs. If you need wiring for your Town and Country I recommend...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver and Trailer Connector Kit for a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan
The Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch, part # 75579 is a fit for the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. The Curt Class II hitch, part # 12264 and the Curt Class III hitch, part # 13364 also fit a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. Since a Class III has the more common 2 inch receiver opening, and the Draw-Tite Class III is a bit less expensive than its Curt counterpart, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite model. For a plug-and-play wiring application for your 2009 Dodge Caravan, use # 118552. To complete your...

  • Availability of Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan
Although there are no Class I hitches for the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan, you can use a Class II like the Curt # C12264. This has the same 1-1/4" receiver and a higher capacity compared to Class I. Unless you absolutely need a 1-1/4" receiver for some reason, I recommend getting a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver instead. The # e98854 will give you more options for accessories and towing since you won't be limited by the 1-1/4" receiver size. I have attached some installation videos below...

  • Curt Class II Hitch and Trailer Wiring that Fit 2012 Chrysler Town and Country
The correct Curt Class II hitch that fits your 2012 Chrysler Town and Country Touring with a 3.6 liter engine is the part # C12264. There isn't any frame modification required to install this hitch on your vehicle. Then for trailer wiring the Curt kit part # C56331 installs the easiest and has the most reliable converter box so it is what I would recommend. It installs by plugging inline with the taillight connectors at the rear of the vehicle and does not require any cutting or splicing. I...

  • What Size Locking Hitch Pin Fits Different Class Trailer Hitches
On a Class I or II 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch you will need to use a 1/2 inch hitch lock such as # e98879. This lock has a 2 inch span which is the usable length of the pin. I have included a link to a video review for you. For a Class III or IV 2 inch trailer hitch as well as Class V 2-1/2 inch trailer hitches you will need to use a 5/8 inch diameter pin such as # e98881 which has a span of 3-5/8 inches. I have included a link to a video review of this lock as well.

  • Does Ball Mount Length Need to be Factored When Picking Out Ball Mount with Curt Hitch 12264
Boat trailers typically have pole tongues which typically don't have any issues with turning clearances. Typically even a-frame trailers aren't prone to clearance issues unless it's just a really short tongue and a really wide trailer. The Curt hitch part # C12264 is in a pretty standard location under the rear bumper so I would not anticipate any issues with the trailer hitting the vehicle with turning. Typically it's the rise/drop figure that is more important as that's what allows the...

From the center of the hitch pin hole of the Curt ball mount part # C45015 to the back of the ball mount platform measures 8 inches. This would easily have enough clearance with the Curt hitch part # C12264 you have installed on your 2012 Chrysler Town and Country.

It sounds like you have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" # C12264 on your 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan which has a 350lb tongue weight rating, and 3500lb trailer weight rating. As long as the trailer you choose on stays under these capacities you will be fine. • How Exact Does Rise/Drop Figure Need to be For Ball Mount
Getting the correct rise/drop is important but if you can't get it totally exact it's not that big of a deal. Getting it pretty close is often times just as good. This is why there aren't ball mount rise/drop figures available in every possible height. On a vehicle like your 2012 Chrysler Town and Country that is going to have some suspension sag when the weight of the trailer is put on the hitch it typically works out the best to have the rise/drop from the ball mount on the higher side...

When we installed the Curt # 13364 on a 2014 Grand Caravan, we found that the receiver was recessed under the vehicle so that there was four inches between the hitch pin hole and the furthest rearward point of the back bumper. According to Curt, the receiver tube on the Curt Class II # C12264 is of the same length as the 13364, so it should also be recessed by 4 inches. Trimming the fascia of your 2012 Chrysler Town and Country for the install of the Curt hitch part # C12264 will require you to lower the hitch to access the fascia.
