Recommended Dual Ball Mount to Tow a Trailer and Use a Bike Rack

Updated 05/16/2023 | Published 05/15/2023

Question:

We have a super c motorhome. It’s a Thor magnitude sv34 2023 that has 12000 hitch with tongue weight of 1200 pounds. We want to use dual hitch with 6 inch and tow bear track trailer with a 1200 pound Harley trike. In top receiver we would have a Hollywood rack Rv ebike rack with bike and bike rack weight of 190 pounds. We would a hitch with 2 and 1/2 “ . Would this work?

Thanks for the picture! To tow a trailer and haul a bike rack off of your Thor Magnitude's hitch, I recommend the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers item # 325-GH-514. This adjustable ball mount has four 2" receiver openings that will allow you to use both a hitch mounted bike rack and tow your trailer.

This ball mount has a 12,000 lbs towing capacity and a 1,500 lbs maximum tongue weight. This will not reduce your motorhome's current capacity. This ball mount includes a double ball that has both a 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball.

I am not sure what your second to last sentence means but if you have a 2-1/2" receiver you will want the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers item # 325-GH-1624. It's the same set up but has a much higher capacity. It will still work with your bike rack and trailer.

The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter item # RM-077-6 you were looking at is used for flat towing and hauling a bike rack. It's not rated for a trailer.

I also recommend locking the Gen-Y to your motorhome with the etrailer Stainless Steel Hitch Lock item # e98881.
