Question:

The 5th wheel 7 way connector gives me a wiring fault message. And I get not brake indication. However, when I plug it into the regular trailer 7 way connector everything works fine. I did a continuity check on each post and they were fine. Is it possible that I need to replace the receptacle? Thanks

Most likely the fault code is due to a wiring issue on the 5th wheel trailer. The first thing I would check is the wiring on the trailer for any breaks of splices that could be causing the short. Next I would make sure there is no corrosion inside or out that is causing the brake output wire to short to ground or another circuit, and make sure the wiring is connected properly, see wiring diagram link. If there is corrosion or because moisture can get in there and cause the wiring to malfunction, I recommend replacing the connector with one like # A7WCB.
