5-Way Replacement Recommendation for a Trailer with 3 Wires Ran to the Ground Circuit

Question:
Hello, I have a boat trailer that has a 5 pin plug that has 8 wires. In order they are white, white, white, brown, brown, yellow, green and blue. One of the pins recently broke off so I need to replace the plug. Just about all the 5 pin plugs I can find are 5 wire which makes total sense. Since I cant find an 8 wire 5 pin plug ANYWHERE my question is this. Can I buy a standard 5 pin, 5 wire plug and simply take the 3 white wires from the trailer and connect them to the one white wire coming out of the new plug and take the 2 brown wires coming from the trailer and connect them to the one brown wire going to the new plug? I just have NO IDEA why there needs to be 3 white wires and 2 brown wires? Any light you could shed on this would really help. Thanks,

The white wires on your connector are the ground wires. What you can do is run all of the ground wires to one wire for the ground on the part # HM47910 and you would be totally fine.
