Question:
Hi, I have a 2015 Toyota Sienna XLE and am looking to install a hitch, I have watched the videos for both the hitch and the wiring installation, there is a 12v power supply in the trunk area cigarette lighter socket, could that be used for the 12v supply rather than running a new wire all the way to the battery? Thanks

The reason the Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # C56261 has a power wire is to protect the delicate tail light wiring circuits of your vehicle from being overloaded. The Curt Trailer Harness # C56106 that you referenced uses your tail light circuits as signal wires and then draws the power to illuminate the tail lights of your trailer directly from your vehicle battery through the battery wire of the box. Running the power from the socket you found will void the warranty of the harness and could potentially damage vehicle wiring in the event of a short.
I attached installation instructions, an installation video and an FAQ on routing power wire for you to check out also.
