What you can do to determine how much visibility you will have is to have someone hold a mirror in about that same location on your 2012 Chevy Silverado LT, and then sit in the driver seat and check out the view.

Another option other than a towing mirror is to use a camera system such as # 04928. This is a wireless system so I recommend having the camera part mounted up high so the signal has a clearer shot to the monitor. This will give you a much better view than a mirror.
