I just installed the mirrors as a trial run before a trip. They seem very solid when attached to my truck mirrors. The instruction sheet seemed confusing and I ended up figuring installation out through trial and error (and a little of the video). My mirrors are labeled CTM-1600 but the instructions make no mention of this code on the models listed on the instruction sheet. I think a notation of which codes match which models would be helpful to future customers. Other than that, I like what I see.

by:

Overall I am very happy with the mirrors. They fit very snug to my Yukon's factory mirrors. The mounting hardware was to short for my application, the reason for 4 stars. It may have been because of the factory chrome pieces on backs of the mirrors. But with some minor design improvements they fit well, ie. zip-tie to extend the back loop. Another inch of thread would have solved the problem. The longview mirrors hold position very well. I also like that I could still fold in my power mirrors while in camp. Which doesn't seam like a big deal until you have kid walk into them because they are not use to them being there.

by:

I am quite concerned about the fit on my '09 GMC. My truck has the mirrors that fold as well as being heated. When mounted the towing mirrors hook piece is only on by a few threads. This piece needs to be at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer to get enough thread to fit tightly. My main concern is that I will loose them on a windy day in Texas.
Regards, John

Excellent product. It installed easily and worked great. The mirrors provided the vision I needed while towing a long travel trailer. I would highly recommend this product to anyone considering the purchase.

by:

These towing mirrors are great, nice looking, fit great, stay put.
They help while pulling a larger trailer, so you can see what is behind you and down the side of the trailer. Being a truck driver part of my life, I want to see behind me, like with regular truck mirrors.
I have had comliments on the looks and quality of the mirror extensions.

by:

I ordered a set of custom touring mirrors from etrailer and received the order in just a few days . They were very helpful . They even tracked the order themselves every step of the way also informed me on how to track my order if i wanted to . They even tracked it to my home delivered and informed me it was delivered . Mirrors were of great quality . I will be ordering from them again for sure . Wonderful business & people . THANKS

by:

We used the mirrors this past weekend. They worked great, fit well and had very little vibration/shaking at 70 MPH. I echo what many have said about the attachment hook bending when tightening them down. I wonder how long they will last. Friends of ours have a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 which take the LVT-1800. Those only require the hook to hold them in place not the hook, other bold and bracket as required on these. It appears the back of LVT-1800 mirror reached further across so the bolt and bracket are not required. The LVT-1800 looks to be a much better design and I wish the CTM-1600 were the same. Etrailer was great to work with so much so that I just placed another order for some other items.

by:

the mirrors fit my truck like a glove the only thing i have a concern about is the mounting pieces to hold the mirror on, i don't know if the plastic will hold up in cold weather when the temps fall to sub zero

Hey Patrick, thanks for the follow up message. I am still liking the purchase I made , the mirrors are wonderful and still working as they should with weekly use , and the brake control box is also doing what its supposed to be doing and is used weekly also . I am happy with the purchase I made and will for sure use etrailer.com for future items on this truck and the others that i own .

The Longview towing mirrors were purchased
for my 2013 Tahoe. They fit well and are easy to install and remove. They vibrate slightly on the highway, but it's acceptable. They hold their alignment position when re-installed.

by:

At first the install seemed easy, but after figuring it out these things are awesome. I use them every time I throw on my camper and haven't had any blind spot issues. I paired them up with a backup camera from etrailer and now can backup and hook up my boat up without any problems.

by:

The mirrors fit the truck very well. Video was a big help in putting the holder together. 2013 Silverado

Biggest problem was following the directions as to where to place the felt pieces. Called etrailer rep and although she was helpful, she had the same problem with the directions. Etrailer rep was very courteous and helpful.

Called Longview, where the mirrors were sent from. Not a professional answering machine message and later found out it was a personal cell phone. I was told to put the felt pads where they rub on the mirror. Not as professional a place as etrailer.

I have had CIPA mirrors on other trucks and have liked them. These mirrors seem very similar other than the way they are locked onto the truck mirror.

by:

excellent fit and very secure; virtually vibration free. Fast service from etrailer.com and package came in good shape. Have ordered from here before and always, enjoy good products and fast friendly service. Thank you!

Excellent product. I have made multiple trips pulling my 28 camper and using these mirrors. I was able to accept a couple back in campsites vs. pull-thru sites due to the ability to use the mirrors to accurately back into a narrow site. Proper placement of the cushion strips made for not only a secure fit but also protected the factory finish on the mirrors of my 2013Tahoe. Thanks eTrailer!

by:

The extensions fit the mirror but the hardware to hold them on won’t work. I’ll have to make hardware for them to work properly.

by:

These mirrors did a pretty good job for my truck. They have a flame design on the front of the housing that I'm not wild about but I don't see them when I drive so...what the heck. The housing doesn't interfere with the factory mirrors view or function. The smaller outside mirrors are a little small and it takes a while to find just the right place to set them. I will say that once they are set they have remained in place and don't require continuous adjusting. There is slight, and I mean slight, wiggle in the mirror but no vibration or distortion even at highway speeds. Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance of these pretty affordable alternatives.

A year later these mirrors havent broken, chipped or gotten loose. They still dont vibrate and continue to be a solid piece. Id recommend them again.

by:

I am a new travel trailer owner. These mirrors are really great. They fit my 2014 Tahoe like a glove. I only rated 4 stars because I have not finalized installation. If I can figure it out, I would rate 5 stars. By the way, customer service was superb! I will order more product from etrailer.

The mirrors work well

by:

Fit well on the mirrors. The only issue we had was that the foam pieces on the passenger side mirror were not on right, we had to modify them so that they fit securely. Handy husband so no big deal.

by:

They fit the mirrors but the screws are not long enough. Can not figure out how to make them work. Very frustrating with the wait that we had in getting them.

You mentioned that they were not fitting and I wanted to ask a few questions. Would you be able to send pictures of your mirrors? Are they black capped mirrors?

As you can see the mirrors fit the truck without the hardware. The problem the screws are not long enough. In one photo I am holding the brackets down and the 1 bolt does not even go through the bracket hole. As it is now I can not tighten it onto the truck mirror.

I reached out to the manufacturer and they will send out a new hardware kit to you.

by:

Must love them, this is the second time I have purchased a set as I had them stolen in Valle parking. They are a little hard to put on, but are secure and I leave them on all the time. I really do love them and pull my trailer with great view behind me. The installment video was very helpful sandi

by:

Exactly what was wanted. Will road test today for wear. Do have concerns with plastic fittings holding up over weather and rides. We’ll see.

by:

Mirrors work very well. The extension allows for visibility of all corners of a travel trailer. The fit was very good on a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The only downside was the linkages used to secure the mirrors are a bit of a contraption.

by:

They got here on time. They were a little confusing to put on. But once I got them figured out it was a piece of cake. They seem to fit well. I haven’t actually used them yet but they appear to look they will work well.

by:

Delivery was quick. The mirrors slipped on with ease and fit well over the existing mirrors and looked almost factory attached. Then came the task for securing the attachments to the vehicle. While the concept is easy someone forgot to check deminsions of the parts and were to short to work on my vehicle. I contacted etrailer by chat and asked if there were alternatives for securing the mirrors and unfortunately there weren't any. Then came my decision to use heavy duty electrical looped through the hole the sent hardware was to be inserted through. Unless you look closely they are not easily seen. When I want to remove the mirrors I simply snip the cable tie on each mirror and ues new ones the next time I need to use the mirrors. While my "fix" works they only 3 star because to the attachment hardware.

After a 15,000+ mile summer trip I found they did help but the drawback of adding 10 to the overall width of my truck made it much more difficult to drive thru narrow spaces. Then early this year I was driving down my street and a neighbors trash can partly on the roadway. I tried to steer away but is was to late and the mirror was ripped off and shattered by the impact. I have since invested in a pair of stick on parabolic mirrors for watching the blind spots and adjoining traffic lanes. The image isnt as big its also less distracting and sheds those extra 10.

by:

The mirrors don't stay where adjusted. This poses a safety risk when driving because we have to adjust them frequently.

by:

The Longview towing mirrors are excellent and the j-hook mounting attachments keep them securely in place. E-Trailer is my go to source for towing/trailer products.

by:

Pretty solidly engineer to slip right over our 2011 Silverado side mirros and have a unique way of securing to the mirror. The instructions are hard to understand and a simple line drawing of how the attachment bracket is attached and secure would have helped. We figured out how to mount them and they look very factory (wide) mirrors and give a pretty good view of the trailer sides for backing. We have a 27 foot Jayco camper and these mirror should help to see where we are backing the camper into when needed and in pull through sites to clearance on the side. You have to manually adjust the mirrors of course. Seems to be good value for the price. Removeable and factory looking.

  • Tow Mirror Recommendation for 2008 GMC Sierra
Hey Lisa, I would go with the Longview tow mirrors part # CTM1600 which are a fit for your 2008 GMC Sierra as long as you don't have telescoping mirrors or mirrors with chrome caps. Or if you were looking for a full mirror replacement that can telescope out for a wider view you would want the K-Source mirrors part # KS62093-94G and you'd be set.
