Question:

Will the Yakima Fat Tire Straps Y02470, though sold as an accessory for the Two/Four Timer racks, work with the ratcheting mechanisms on the Yakima Holdup racks? The pictures seem to indicate they would, but I havent found text to say if they would or wouldnt.

The Yakima Fat Tire Straps # Y02470 that fit the TwoTimer and Four Timer hitch-mount platform bike racks will not work on their HoldUp carriers. I confirmed this with my contact at Yakima. The Hold-Up carrier cannot be retro-fitted with larger straps and wheel cradles to allow it to be used with fat bikes. Extra Long Wheel Strap # Y8880229 does fit the Hold-Up rack but it is intended for aerodynamic rims, not fat tires. Even if you did manage to get these installed you'd be risking your rack warranty and potentially the safety of your bikes.
