I can help you better understand your wiring on your 7-way.
If you purchased the tow package from the dealer you will have a factory installed 7-way connector and it will have power. The plug would be located at the rear of your vehicle by the bumper.
If you didn't purchase the tow package from the dealer, your Jeep is already prewired but will need a 7-way connector # 74682. Then, because of the way the computer is programmed, you will have to go to a Dodge/Jeep dealer, and they will "flash" the computer, this will basically reset the Jeep's computer to recognize the harness and plug. I've attached an image of the underside of the vehicle showing the harness plug.
We offer a circuit tester # PTW2993 that will help you identify if power is indeed running properly to the connector.
If you didn't get the tow package, it is likely that you don't have a hitch either. If you are in need of one, I would recommend the Curt Hitch # C13182 because it has the highest tongue weight and will be able to carry the heaviest load. I went ahead and linked the all the hitches for your vehicle.
I've also linked a few videos showing you how to do this for your convenience.
