Question:
Hello! I just bought a new to me 2005 Chevy Express van. It has the factory trailer wiring harness installed. Problem is, there is no 12V + at the red/white stripe wire in the bundle under the dash that is used to power the brake controller. I have scoured your site and the internet trying to find where this wire is fused, with no success. I would appreciate any help you can provide!

For your 2005 Chevy Express Van the brake output circuit is available under the dash for installing the controller, but you would need to run the power wire for the controller to the positive power post of the battery through a breaker like part # 9510. You would want to use 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot).
You can test the other wires you have found, but the red wire of the controller needs to be run to a circuit that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied. Usually this circuit is found near the brake pedal. The white wire needs to ground to the negative side of the battery.
