Question:
How can I tell if my shocks on my 2001 HR alumalite TTneed replaced and do you carry the replacements?

A leaf spring should be replaced if it is badly rusted, has cracks or breaks in its leaves or if it is sagging. A 14-year-old travel trailer could certainly be in need of new leaf springs. The keys to selecting correct replacement leaf springs are to match your axle capacity, number of leaves and spring size. Most axles will have a plate or sticker that indicates the axle's weight rating. It is best to remove a spring from the suspension to check its eye-to-eye length. A spring that is badly worn can become elongated and measure as much as 3/4-inch longer than it actually was when new.
Holiday Rambler offered 5 models of their Aluma-Lite series travel trailers in 2001 including as an example the tandem axle 34-foot M-33FKS. Most travel trailers use leaf spring suspensions rather than shocks. We can help you select the correct replacement leaf springs if yours are worn. You can confirm which you have by checking under the trailer or by contacting the manufacturer with your trailer's VIN.
Once you know your axle capacity, number of leaves and spring length you can use the linked page to review the leaf springs we offer. Just keep in mind that if for example your spring length measures 25-1/2-inches, it may actually be a 24-7/8-inch long spring like # e64SR that works on 7K axles.
Leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs. Otherwise differing lengths could result in trailer tracking problems. Two articles on trailer suspensions are linked for your review. I also included an article on trailer maintenance that may be helpful to you.
