Will 6k Brake Assemblies fit 5,200 lb Trailer Axle

Question:

I HAVE DEXTER 5200 LB AXLES ON MY 5TH WHEEL 12X2. CAN I USE THIS 6000LB BRAKE ASSEMBLY ON MY AXLES?

Hey Ricky, yes the Dexter Nev-R Adjust assemblies part # 23-458-459 that you referenced will fit a 5.2k 12 inch drum like you have. The 6k and 5.2k axles use the same size drums. Are you by chance wanting better braking strength?

Yes, and also want the never adjust feature.

@Ricky So while it would seem that going to a higher rated brake assembly would improve braking strength it actually doesn't. Basically the 5.2k assemblies should have no problem locking up the wheels if everything is working like it should. The higher rated assemblies will basically just have a more sensitive magnet that will make it harder to find the sweet spot. With all that said we do have the part # AKEBRK-7-SA is a set of self adjusting assemblies that would work for you.
