Question:
I have a 2007 Chevy express 3500 Van cutaway with Knapp KLT utility body with Duramax diesel and single rear wheels. Truck has tare weight of 10,200lbs. When hauling material its tipped the scales at 12,400lbs. After rear spring shackle broke, spring replacement company replaced both rear leaf springs and added additional 2500lbs capacity to rear. This tips the truck down in front and now I am blowing front shocks in less than a year and bottoming out. Will the SSC-14 coil springs fit and solve this problem and how much more capacity are they capable of over stock coil springs?

Expert Reply:
The capacity of the # SSC-14 that you referenced is 4,070 lbs. This will not increase your towing suspension capacity overall, but it will help you support your current capacity and will give you an additional 1-1/4 inches of lift in the front which it sounds like you are in need of.
The additional support will help with bottoming out the suspension as well.
Since you are carrying such a heavy trailer you will want to be sure that you are not exceeding the capacities of your tow vehicle or you will likely encounter more similar problems.
