Question:
I am looking for a 7 pin wiring harness for a 2004 Chevy Express van. I cannot find it anywhere. Do I need to order item 118392 4 pin and also the 7 pin adapter? The 7 pin adapter has a 4 pin as well as the four? Those extra wires are used for brake control? And then the brake control module is purchased separately? I want to pull a pop-up camper with brakes.

You are correct, you will need the T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118392 as well as the 4 to 7-way adapter, part # 37185. This adapter also provides a 4-pole connector.
The extra wires you speak of provide 12-volt power to the trailer for any accessories, power for the reverse lights (if your trailer has them) and carry the output from a brake controller.
If you want to utilize the brakes on the pop-up camper, you will need a brake controller. I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy, part # 90185. The Prodigy is one of our all time best sellers and is very easy to use and to set up.
To install the controller in your Express, I would recommend our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. This kit contains everything necessary for installing the brake controller, including the adapter mentioned above.
I will include links to our Brake Controller Installation Guide, the products recommended above, and to an installation video that you might find helpful. These links can be found below.
